Barbara Rieche is an artist of German origin, student of renowned Costa Rican artists. In her acrylic-on-canvas paintings, she expresses vivaciously the simplicity of tropical “joy of life” and the close bond between (wo)man and nature.
Her aquarelles tell of the past of the “colonial city” of Nicoya. The contents show traditional Guanacaste houses, some ready for demolition, others already destroyed. These paintings remind of the local values and customs that are being scarified faster and faster in favour of a worldwide uniform.
Her drawings reflect the live, experience and wisdom
